The Tearoom in 'Y Sied'
Delicious home baking, hearty soups & fresh coffee
Come on in...
...we'd love to see you
Y Sied (The Shed) is the social hub of Cae Hir, where we welcome our garden visitors, chat to as many of you as we possibly can and where you can spend a happy moment enjoying Julie's home baked cakes and scones with a fresh cup of tea or locally roasted Teifi Coffee whilst also browsing our plants for sale and enjoying a secret glimpse of the garden beyond.
FREE WIFI is available in Y Sied - sign in using the password provided.
You are welcome to use the tea room and enjoy the patio and nursery area without paying for entry into the garden.
Home Baked & Fresh
It is important to us that everything we serve you is fresh and home made. We therefore keep our menu small to ensure freshness, and Julie does all the baking and cooking herself, right here on the premises.
Our daily menu consists of a small selection of deliciously moreish cakes as well as cream teas made up of Julie's locally famous scones with proper strawberry jam and real clotted cream. Our savoury option is a freshly made soup of the day served with a warm crusty roll and butter.
Please note that the menu can change depending on the weather - rain often means a big drop in visitor numbers, and menu options will reflect that. Please phone in advance if you need to check what's on offer!
More substantial lunches can be arranged for groups and parties when booked in advance. For further information on group bookings please click HERE.
Keeping it local...
...we are proud to be a Cambrian Mountains Local Produce Champion
As a family we do like our coffee, which is why finding an excellent coffee to serve to our customers was a high priority for us. Locally roasted Teifi Coffee fits the bill perfectly. We serve it in a cafetiere (French Press) which gives the coffee time to brew allowing the flavours to fully develop, and we are happy to say our delicious coffee is often remarked upon by our visitors. We also sell Teifi Coffee by the bag ('Espresso' or 'Dragon' blends) so you can enjoy it at home too!
We particularly wanted to stock Tregroes Waffles in our tearoom not just because they're delicious and a traditional Dutch biscuit, but because the company was started not far from here in the village of Tregroes at around the same time as we started Cae Hir Gardens, and by another Dutchman to boot! Why not enjoy a couple of waffles warmed up over your cup of Teifi Coffee?!
Every tearoom needs a good ice-cream, and we have one of the best made right here on our doorstep! The Conti family first moved over from Italy in the 1930s and have been making ice-cream in Lampeter ever since. Due to our limited freezer space we only have their 'Traditional' and 'Strawberry' flavours to offer you - but they both pack a delicious punch!
