Welcome to Cae Hir

A Welsh Garden with a Dutch History

Visit one of Wales' best loved private gardens...

...climbing up the foothills of the ancient and glorious Cambrian Mountains and only 8 miles from Cardigan Bay's stunning coastline

The  latest...

Not long to go now before we re-open for 2023!

We are working hard to get things ready for our 2023 season, and will be opening our doors (gates!), as always, on April 1st...

Are dogs allowed?

YES! Dogs with well behaved owners are welcome in the garden! There is no entry charge for dogs. Fresh water is always available and we have a dog waste bin for your use.

What time do you open?

We open at 10am and close at 5pm daily through the season which runs from April 1st to October 31st.

Can we visit the tearoom or nursery without paying  to see the garden?

YES! There is no obligation at all to visit the garden. Many people enjoy popping in just for a coffee and treat in beautiful surroundings or to enjoy a good browse around our plants for sale. We are also often used as somewhere to break a journey; to get some air, a bite to eat and use the loo!

Plan your visit to our peaceful garden, set in beautiful Welsh countryside in the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains.

We strive to work with nature, doing what we can to safeguard the natural Welsh beauty that surrounds us.

How 250 years of family history in the Dutch tree nursery trade has resulted in this garden in the Welsh hills!

What  our Visitors say...

Fabulous garden, wonderful family, amazing cream tea. What more could you want on a Sunday afternoon!

What a truly magnificent garden with a lovely variety of trees and plants so beautifully landscaped. I have not seen a garden quite like it anywhere.

The most imaginative garden I have ever seen! Wonderful.

You could NOT do better, it is superb.
